i've never had a bottle of wine classified as a cru bourgeois. apparently, its existence (officially) was only from 2003-2007, and now again in 2010. (wikipedia) 2005 was supposedly a good year for bordeaux, so i bought a bottle of chateau de gironville, from the haut-medoc region. it was a mix of 3 grapes-- cab (~47%), merlot (~43%), and petit syrah (~10%). aged 14 months in the cask. percentages are from my memory, and may be incorrect. very bordeaux profile. a bit tannic, could definitely wait for a few more months. for my money, i prefer last week's mercurey.
