shrek forever after marketing blitz

shrek 4ever after comes out 21 may in taiwan, and there's a huge marketing blitz going on.  you see shrek everywhere.  this one is of a stairwell into the public transport system, with the images on both walls and the ceiling.  very much in your face.

a daytrip to jioufen

my grandparents took me to jioufen.  it's a beautiful place, and used to be a gold mine when the japanese occupied taiwan.  now, its mostly a tourist trap.  i will have to go again sometime, as i was not able to explore the more scenic areas.

up the maokong gondola

sunday was mother's day, but since i'm on a different continent than my mom, i had all day to myself.  so i went to maokong, where there are tea houses.  to get there, you can take the gondola, for only NT$50 (US$1.60) roundtrip.  first, i stopped at the South-Facing Temple.  beautiful.  link to album below.

then i walked around maokong.  it's really better to go with a bunch of people and drink tea and spend the night away.

rushed back to have mother's day dinner with my relatives.  all my uncles and aunts came to have dinner with my grandparents.  it was a nice family reunion.
